Donald L Pierce Obituary
Donald L. Pierce, 84 of Killeen, Texas and
formerly of Ottumwa, Iowa passed away peacefully on 23 March 2021 at
Seton Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born 27 November 1936 near Russell, Iowa to John and Fern Pierce.
He met Carolyn Kay DeBok during high school, and they were married 26
May 1956 at the Methodist Church in Russell, Iowa.
He graduated from Russell High School and received a basketball
scholarship to play at UNI; however, he immediately enlisted in the US
Air Force and was assigned to the Strategic Air Command (SAC). After his
departure from the military, they moved to Ottumwa, Iowa where he
worked as a Service Manager for Norris Chrysler and Ackerman Auto. He
was a two-time Past Exalted Ruler and Lifetime Member of Elks Lodge
(BPOE 347). When he was not with his wife and kids at Lake Rathbun, he
liked to go fishing with friends.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, and three children: Denise (Dennis)
Meeker of Killeen, Texas; Diane (Jim)Widger of Danville, Iowa; and LTC
(R) Brian (Mandy) Pierce of Killeen, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 5
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gene Pierce; and a sister, Beverly Pierce Werts.
Interment will take place at the Central Texas Veteran Cemetery in
Killeen, Texas. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wreaths for
