Myrtle Bernadine Frame Kells July 30, 1925 - October 20, 2023

 

Obituary

Myrtle Bernadine Frame Kells, passed away, Friday, October 20, 2023, at the Chariton Specialty Care in Chariton, Iowa. She was born to Homer H. Frame and Eva Marie (Buoy) Frame on July 30,1925 at their home in Confidence. She was born 15 minutes before her twin sister Gwendolyn.

She attended Confidence School and then attended Wayne County high school and graduated there in 1943. She attended Simpson College for two years and received a certificate to teach elementary school.

She taught in Elkhart and Chariton school systems, She also substituted in the Russell school system.

On June 15, 1948 she married Bob Kells and moved to the Kells farm southeast of Russell. To this union was born Roberta Lynn, Gwenith Renae and Jan Michaele.

She enjoyed sewing, Knitting, crocheting and piecing quilts. She also loved to sing, play the piano and paint with chalk, watercolors and oil. So very, very talented! She was her own person.

Those preceding her in death were her husband, Bob, of 56 years, twin sister Gwendolyn Driggs, brother, James Frame, parents, Homer and Eva Frame, sister-in-law, Geraldine Frame and brother-in-law, Bob Driggs.

She leaves the following to mourn her passing, Roberta (Jim) Reynolds, Gwenith Mitchell, Jan (Ron) Chisman, grandchildren, Bob Reynolds, Ben Reynolds, Ryan (Heather) Mitchell, Grant (Katie) Mitchell, Renae (Patrick) Sikora, Zach Chisman, and Colleen Chisman. She also had 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Carolyn Louise Christensen January 22, 1935 - September 21, 2023 Obituary



Carolyn Louise Hile Christensen age 88 of Bloomington IL, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Martin Health Center, Bloomington IL.


Carolyn was born January 22, 1935 in York, Nebraska the daughter of Ted and Dorothy Marquardt Hile. She was raised in Russell, Iowa; graduated from Iowa State University and completed the requirements to be a Registered Dietitian. Carolyn met her husband at a St. Patrick’s Day party in Denver; then life took them in separate directions. They reconnected by way of a letter from Carolyn’s mother telling him about Carolyn’s injury and hospitalization in Norway due to a hotel fire. She married Morris Christensen on October 16, 1960 in Russell, Iowa.

They spent most of their married life in Bloomington-Normal, IL.


Carolyn mothered two children, worked as a Registered Dietitian and was active in church, community and professional organizations. During her 15 years as the School Lunch Director for McLean County Unit 5 Schools she was named Career Woman of the Year by the Bloomington Business & Professional Women’ s Club. Her generous, giving spirit and warm smile were evident to all she met.


In addition to her husband Morris, also surviving are two siblings, Nancy (Verlis) Miller, Cedar Rapids, IA and Roger Hile, Ft. Smith, MT. Two children, Jill Christensen, Centennial, CO, Brian (Beckie) Christensen, East Peoria, IL, four grandchildren, Kylie (Eddie) Kahle, Rochester, IL, Paige (Matt) Marino, La Mesa, CA, Andrew (Morgan) Christensen, Lincoln, NE, Rachel Ledesma, Crested Butte, CO, three great grandchildren, Quentin and Lucy Kahle and Carter Christensen and several nieces and nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents.


A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Saturday, September 30, 2023 with a funeral service to follow at First United Methodist Church 211 N. School St. Normal IL. A graveside service will be held at Funks Grove Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Normal, IL


Cremation arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL.

Patricia Lee Stevenson Obituary November 11, 1945 — October 5, 2023


 Patricia Lee Stevenson passed away peacefully on October 5, 2023, in Chariton, Iowa.  A visitation will take place from 4:00pm-7:00pm on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the funeral home.  Patty will be laid to rest in Chariton Cemetery immediately following services.  The family invites guests to a meal at First Baptist Church in Chariton following the burial. Memorials may be made in Patty’s name to the First Baptist Church in Chariton.

Patty was born on November 11, 1945, to Leroy and Maxine Ansley at the Yocom Hospital in Chariton. She grew up in Chariton alongside her siblings: Linda, Roger, Bruce, and Brenda. She graduated from Chariton High School in 1963.

In 1964, Patty married Richard Atwell, and they were blessed with three children: Kelly, Darren, and Ryan. She was a homemaker while the children were growing up. She was a very caring, kind mother.

Patty was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Chariton. This led her to volunteer with many activities and groups through the years.

Tenco and their services were very important to her and her family.

Patty was a mother first, caring for her children for many years before working at Chariton Manor as a healthcare aide, after which she was a physical therapy aide. She later worked at Circle of Friends, retiring in 2016. During this time Patty married Cecil Stevenson in 2014. Patty was also a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Beta Signa Phi of Russell. She had many wonderful friendships with the ladies of these groups.

Grandma Patty loved to spoil her grandchildren with waffles, hot apple cider, and mac and cheese. She shared a love for books and movies with her grandchildren, making her collection a staple in their lives. Patty loved to roughhouse and joke with her grandchildren. When they were not wrestling in the living room, you could find Grandma Patty and her grandkids standing back-to-back to see if they had finally grown taller than her.

Patty always had a love for traveling, the ocean, and lighthouses. She enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, and cooking for her family. Holidays were always a favorite with Patty, from decorating the Christmas tree to being sent home with a box full of her loved one's favorite treats

Patty is survived by her children: Kelly (Darold Jr.) Bush, Darren (Heidi) Atwell, and Ryan (Amanda) Atwell; grandchildren: Amy (Ryan) Stofenberg, Conrad (Hannah) Bush, Camron Bush, Maddy (Mark) Langemach, Brady (Abby) Atwell, Tyson Atwell, Elizabeth (Gage) Beers, Sara Atwell, Briley Atwell, and Baylor Atwell; great-grandchildren: Hazel Beers, Henry Beers, and Baby Bush on the way; Linda (Jerry) Kliewer, Roger Ansley, Bruce (Deb) Ansley, and Brenda (Steve) Shenefield; Aunt Mary Fern Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Maxine, and niece, Stephanie Shenefield.
