Harold Rasmus was born on April 19, 1919 at Chariton, Iowa to Clifford A. Rasmus and Belle (Gookin) Rasmus.
Harold passed away on May 20, 2013 at the Chariton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chariton, Iowa. He was 94 years old.
Harold is survived by his sister, Martha (Rasmus) McCormick and brother-in-law Kenneth C. McCormick of Lucas, Iowa.
Harold immensely enjoyed teasing his nieces Connie (Leon) Ehlers of Lucas, Iowa; Carol McCormick of Bentonville, Arkansas; and Carla (Guy) Hausrath of Plattsburgh, New York.
He is also survived by great-nieces, Laurie (Chad) Breyfogle of Cincinnati, Ohio; Lisa Jo Ehlers, of the United States territory of Guam; Katherine Hausrath of Plattsburgh, New York; great-nephews Kenneth Hausrath, Stephen Hausrath, and Thomas Hausrath, all of Plattsburgh, New York; and great, great-niece Amelia Noel Breyfogle of Cincinnati, Ohio. Harold's early school years were spent at the Meyers country school in Benton Township of Lucas County. When weather allowed he rode his pony, Tommy, to school. Harold graduated from Chariton High School in 1937. He and Kenneth were in the same class. They frequently reminisced about their high school days. Harold was a farmer and raised turkeys and cattle. Harold lived on the farm for over 50 years.
On July 10, 1981 Harold married Genevieve (Gen) Lockridge.  After a few years on the farm, they moved to Russell.  Harold and Gen faithfully attended the Center Church east of Russell.  In 2006 Harold and Gen moved to the Chariton Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.  Services will be held May 24, 2013 at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa.  Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the funeral service will follow at  2:00 p.m.  Interment will be at the Russell Cemetery.

Marilyn (Hawk) Martin Obituary

Marilyn Jane Martin, 81, formally of Chariton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Montrose Nursing Center.

Marilyn was born on February 26 1932 at home in Russell, Iowa to Clell (Sonny) and Ruth (Russell) Hawk.
She graduated from Chariton High School and Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines.
On July 5, 1953 Marilyn was united in marriage to LaVerne (Sarg) Martin of Derby in Chariton.  To this union, they were blessed with two daughters, Kim and Kelly, and two sons, Roger and Brian.  Marilyn was an Air Force wife, living in Omaha, Guam, Massachusetts, Germany, Washington, D.C., Florida, and Colorado; giving birth to Kim in Omaha, Roger in Guam, Brian in Massachusetts, and Kelly in Germany.  She moved her family many times from coast to coast and country to country before coming back home to Chariton.  She worked at Hy-Vee, collected blue glass, loved auctions and hosted many family gatherings.  She was a very loving and caring person, readily making long lasting friendships everywhere she went.
Proceeding Marilyn in her death were her parents, her husband LaVerne (Sarg), her daughter Kim, her brothers Gary Hawk and Jack Hawk.
Marilyn is survived by sons Roger of Montrose, Brian of Chariton, and daughter Kelly of Des Moines, sister Patty Carson of Illinois, brother Jim (Chickenhawk) Hawk of Williamson, grandchildren; Derek, Hilary, Amber, Quinn, Shadee, Trinity, and Zachary and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins,
friends and her beloved dog Duchess.
