 Kaye VanFleetKaye VanFleet, 71, of Chariton passed away October 17, 2018 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd at 2:30 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Kaye's wishes were to be cremated and she will be buried at a later date at the Avon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lucas County Veterans Memorial Park.
Kaye is survived by her children: Tawnya (Doug VerPloegh) Overton, Robert L. Overton II, Malissa (Patrick) Graham, and Tralisa VanFleet; 12 grandchildren: Miranda, Gary, Dillon, Teeanna, Houston, Haylee, Paige, Jayden, Peyton, Carter, Conner, and Layla; three great grandchildren; and siblings, Charles Graves II and Marcia Hoch; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding Kaye in death were her parents, Charles and Mildred Graves; husband, Gary Overton; and granddaughter, Shyanne.

Maxine (Beaty) Smith of Russell, Iowa passed away peacefully on September 29th 2018 at the Chariton Specialty Care Center located in Chariton, Iowa. She was born in Lucas County to Glenn and Beulah Beaty and was a lifetime resident of Russell, Iowa.
Maxine retired after twenty-five years as the secretary of Russell Community School District. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Smith and her brother, Marvin Beaty.
She is survived by her sister, Francis Force of Arizona; a son, Stephen Smith and wife Patty of Russell, Iowa and a daughter Sheri Bowman and husband Buddy of Knoxville, Tennessee; her beloved grandchildren, Shannon Smith, Stephanie Smith, Shelby Watsabaugh, Zachary Bowman and Quentin Bowman, along with five beloved great grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to the family.
