Lawrence "Larry" George Gall Obituary

                                                                     August 3, 1956 ~ August 16, 2023 (age 67)


Lawrence George “Larry” Gall, age 67, passed away on August 16, 2023 at home in Des Moines, Iowa. 

Larry was born on August 3, 1956 in Davenport, Iowa the son of George L. and Betty (Adams) Gall.  He was raised in Russell, Iowa and attended the local schools, graduating from the Russell High School with the class of 1975.  He worked alongside his Father and Brother Terry at Johnson Machine Works until 1979 when Larry, following his fathers’ footsteps, joined on to serve his country with the United States Army working in the Field Arterially Division.  Larry received his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1987(?).  He worked various jobs including managing auto parts stores.  In his youth Larry loved to go camping, fishing, tinkering on old cars and attending car shows. He also enjoyed all genres of music.  Larry loved God, his family, a warm sweet cup of coffee and assembling jigsaw puzzles.  He will be greatly missed. 

Larry is survived by his children:  Kandi (Rodney) Petry of Hartford, Iowa, Kyle Gall of West Des Moines, Iowa, Myra (Jesus) Osornio of Cary, Illinois his grandchildren; Rodney Jr., Zeke, Daniel, Logan, Lilliana, Delilah and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews along with his siblings: Richard (Glenda) Gall, Mary Ann (Joe) Warwick, Jacob (Jodi) Gall, Becky (Mike) Winger, Micki (David) Holcomb, Pennie (Dave) Reese, Dana Gall-Secor and his step-father Jim Secor of Chariton, Iowa.  Larry was preceded in death by his parents George and Betty and step-mother Marge Secor, his sisters Patti Combs and Brenda Moore and his brothers Terry Gall and John Gall and his nephew Corey Gall. 

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Chariton with Pastor David Hobbs officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church at 4:00 for a prayer service followed by food and fellowship.  Interment will be at the Van Meter Veterans Cemetery at a later date yet to be determined.  

 Memorials can be given to the Disabled American Veterans or the American Lung Association in memory of Larry.  The Fielding Funeral Home of Chariton, Iowa is honored to care for and minister to the Gall family at this time.
