Richard Eugene Dixon

1954 - 2018

Richard Eugene Dixon, 64, of Lakewood, passed away October 25, 2018.

He was born May 24, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Shirley (Woods) Dixon.

He was a graduate of Russell High School in Russell, Iowa.

Richard's passion was cooking and he enjoyed working as a cook all over the country.

Richard is survived by two sons, Adam Chenoweth and Joshua Dixon; father, Floyd Dixon; brother, Bradley Dixon; three nephews, Justin Dixon, Caleb Dixon and Aaron Dixon; niece, Melissa Dixon; great-niece, Zailey McDonald; great-nephew, Roland McDonald and his loving companion, Kandace Romine.

He is preceded in death by mother, Shirley Dixon and daughter, Angel Olsen.

Preceded in death by his parents Guy and Nora (Hanks) Force, sister Irma and brothers Ardis, Paul & Wendell.
Don attended Russell school through high school, then graduated from the University of Iowa with an EE degree and loved to cheer for the Hawkeyes! This led to a successful career for many years with Hughes Aircraft Company. He played in the Russel town band and had great tenor voice. He loved 40’s music and you could often hear him whistling his favorites.
Don also served our country during the Korean war and was honorably discharged from the US Army at the rank of Staff Sargent in 1954.
He passed quietly with his wife of 39 years, Frances M Force (Beaty) holding his hand until his last breath. Her last words to him were “I love you”. Don is also survived by son Craig, daughter Marla (Don), stepsons Barry (Jacquie), Scott (Jean), five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and with two more on the way.
