Raymond William Elliott Obituary


Family will receive friends on Tuesday,
August 28, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton.

Raymond William Elliott was born September 6, 1938 in Russell, Iowa to Robert and Elizabeth (Rohrer) Elliott, he was the youngest of 10 children. Raymond attended school in Russell and Chariton.

Raymond owned Newton Plumbing and Heating for several years in Newton. He then came to Chariton and worked at Johnson Machine Works. If you didn't know how to do something at Johnson's you were told to ask Ray. After retiring he enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He loved to tear down houses and rebuild them; he was an original "flip this house" man. Ray liked to build all kinds of things and to do woodworking.

Ray passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Legacy Lodge in Chariton at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by siblings: Mary Ann Gold, Bob Elliott, Ethel Pierce, and Daisy Clark.

Surviving is his wife, Mary; son, Jeff (Sherry) Elliott of Oskaloosa; two granddaughters; siblings: Beulah Beadle, Beverly (Clyde) Buckalew, Myrtle Hamilton, Thelma Raffety, and Helen Sims. Also surviving are all of Mary's family; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; and his puppies: Rascal and Zeke.

Judy Chapman Obituary

Judith Ann Ford was born on February 24, 1938 in Russell, Iowa to Ivan and Kathleen (Scott) Ford.  She passed away on August 17, 2012 at the age of 74 at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center from complication of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
As a child, Judy and her family moved briefly to Calloway, Nebraska and to Webster City, Iowa, but spent most of her life in Russell, Iowa.  Judy was a member of the Methodist Church in Russell where she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher.  She graduated from Russell High School in 1956.
In 1958 she married Dean Chapman, also of Russell.  She worked at the Lucas County Extension Office until she became a mother to her three children, Teresa, Toni and Todd.  Judy became a member of the First Baptist Church in Russell, where she served in various Children's programs.  She also volunteered her time as a 4-H leader and was involved in her children's activities
Judy collected antique glassware, liked to mow her yard and looked forward to fall when she could pick up acorns for the DNR.  She loved spending time with her nine grandchildren.  She took great joy in helping others, and cared for her aging father who suffered from Alzheimer's.  Judy enjoyed the friendships she made and the travel she was able to experience through Dean's tenure on the board of Farm Credit Services.
Services for Judy were held August 21, 2012 at Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Harris officiating.  Music was provided by Wendy Blue as organist and Erin Ernst and Lyle Ernst as vocalists.

Ronald "Ron" Fogle Obituary


Graveside services for Ron Fogle, 83, of Chariton, Iowa were held August 8, 2012 at the Chariton Cemetery.  Open visitation was held on August 7 at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton.  Memorials may be made to the Legacy Lodge Hospice or Circle of Friends Home Care.  On line condolences for the family may be left at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com
Ronald LaVerne Fogle was born March 1, 1929 in rural Lucas County at the family home near Norwood to Harry and Nellie Pennington Fogle.  He attended school at Norwood and high school in Chariton graduating in 1946.  He served in the Army in Korea from 1951 until 1953.  After coming home he married Lois DeBok on April 12, 1953 in Russell, Iowa.  They were blessed with three children: Gary, Diane, and Dennis.
Ron drove a truck as an owner operator for many years and was an over the road driver for several different companies.  He loved spending time on the farm they owned for over 20 years.
Ron passed away August 6, 2012 at the age of 83 years at the Legacy Lodge in Chariton.
