March 6, 1922 ~ September 29, 2018 (age 96)Maxine (Beaty) Smith of Russell, Iowa passed away peacefully on September 29th 2018 at the Chariton Specialty Care Center located in Chariton, Iowa. She was born in Lucas County to Glenn and Beulah Beaty and was a lifetime resident of Russell, Iowa.
Maxine retired after twenty-five years as the secretary of Russell Community School District. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Smith and her brother, Marvin Beaty.
She is survived by her sister, Francis Force of Arizona; a son, Stephen Smith and wife Patty of Russell, Iowa and a daughter Sheri Bowman and husband Buddy of Knoxville, Tennessee; her beloved grandchildren, Shannon Smith, Stephanie Smith, Shelby Watsabaugh, Zachary Bowman and Quentin Bowman, along with five beloved great grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to the family.
