Anna Loree Coulson Obituary

Anna Loree Coulson, age 87, of Polk City and formerly of Knoxville, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Polk City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Polk City, Iowa. 
Anna was born at home in rural Russell, Iowa on October 25, 1925, the daughter of Harold Lee and Alta Rowena (Lynn) Horner. Anna was a graduate of the Russell High School. 
After graduation Anna worked for a short time for J. C. Penny’s and at the V.A. Hospital before she was united in marriage to William Dwayne “Bill” Coulson on September 2, 1951 in Lucas County, Iowa. Anna was a homemaker and the bookkeeper for the family business of A. L. Coulson Plumbing and Heating, until she and Bill retired in 1988. Anna and Bill shared over 56 years of marriage together and were blessed with four children: Carrol, Allen, Zina and Rowena. Bill died on July 31, 2008. 
Anna was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and a longtime member and the last surviving charter member of the Knoxville Regular Baptist Church. For over 20 years she was a Sunday School Teacher for two and three year olds. She also enjoyed Word Find Puzzles, Television and she especially enjoyed and loved her grandchildren. 
Anna is survived by her children: Carrol (Peggy) Coulson of Iowa Falls, Zina (Todd) Tigges of Dexter and Rowena (Nick) Kirk of Polk City; 13 grandchildren: Rachel (Jake) Willoughby, Joshua (Kristin) Coulson, Jacob Coulson, Heather (Justin) Riddle, Michele (Justin) Compton, Jason (Jennifer) Tigges, Phillip (Becky) Tigges, Courtney (Ben) Clausen, Chantal (John Tyler) Slayton, Kyle Moon, Noah Kirk, Clayton Kirk and Nathan Kirk; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Doris Clanin of Chariton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; her son: Allen Coulson; one brother: Robert Horner; and one sister: Audrey Mains. 
Visitation for Anna will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. Anna’s family will be present Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 2nd at the Faith Baptist Church of Knoxville with Pastor Curtis Gordon officiating. Burial will follow services at Greenwood Cemetery of rural Knoxville. 
A memorial has been established in Anna’s name to the Iowa Regular Baptist Camp. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is assisting Anna’s family with services.
