Judith Ann Ford was born on February 24, 1938 in Russell, Iowa to Ivan and Kathleen (Scott) Ford. She passed away on August 17, 2012 at the age of 74 at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center from complication of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
As a child, Judy and her family moved briefly to Calloway, Nebraska and to Webster City, Iowa, but spent most of her life in Russell, Iowa. Judy was a member of the Methodist Church in Russell where she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher. She graduated from Russell High School in 1956.
In 1958 she married Dean Chapman, also of Russell. She worked at the Lucas County Extension Office until she became a mother to her three children, Teresa, Toni and Todd. Judy became a member of the First Baptist Church in Russell, where she served in various Children's programs. She also volunteered her time as a 4-H leader and was involved in her children's activities
Judy collected antique glassware, liked to mow her yard and looked forward to fall when she could pick up acorns for the DNR. She loved spending time with her nine grandchildren. She took great joy in helping others, and cared for her aging father who suffered from Alzheimer's. Judy enjoyed the friendships she made and the travel she was able to experience through Dean's tenure on the board of Farm Credit Services.
Services for Judy were held August 21, 2012 at Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Harris officiating. Music was provided by Wendy Blue as organist and Erin Ernst and Lyle Ernst as vocalists.
