Terry L. Buckalew, 72, of Browning, IL passed away at 8:41 p.m. on June 27, 2023 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, IL. He was born on May 23, 1951 in Des Moines, IA a son of the late Mary Feight Buckalew. He married Edith Mathis Meyer on August 1, 1992 at the Browning Methodist Church in Browning, IL. She survives along with; (1) son; James Buckalew of Chariton, IA, (2) step-daughters; Stephania Murrell (Brad) of Browning, IL, Lacey Meyer (Mike Ewing) of Rushville, IL, (1) step-son; Jason Meyer of Browning, IL, (1) grandchild; Madison Buckalew of Chariton, IA, (5) step-grandchildren; Megan Crook (Dusty) of Industry, IL, Austin, Ashtyn & Layton Ewing of Rushville, IL, Brock Meyer of Browning, IL, (1) great granddaughter; Lainey Crook of Industry, IL, (3) sisters; Diane Buckalew (Kim Johnson) of Chariton, IA, Debbie McClaran (Brian) of Leon, IA, Teresa Buckalew (companion Dale) of Williamson, IA, (2) brothers; Doyle Buckalew of Williamson, IA, Carroll Buckalew of Iowa. He was preceded in death by (1) brother; Richard Buckalew, (2) step-sons; Shawn & J.R. Meyer, his grandparents Stanley & Mary Feight, who raised him as their own son and he loved very much. Terry attended Graceland University in Lamoni, IA and was a school teacher for four years. He joined BNSF Railroad as a locomotive engineer and was employed there for 36 years before retiring. He attended Browning Methodist Church. Terry enjoyed watching all college sports. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them was his greatest joy in life. He had a special nickname for each one of them. Cremation has been accorded. A graveside memorial service will be held at Oxford Cemetery in Chariton, IA at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Browning Methodist Church.
