Darrell
Swan, age 51, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020
under Hospice Care at his home in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was born on May
17, 1969 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of David and Lola (Cortez) Swan
Sr. He attended Russell High School and graduated with the Class of
1988. After high school he attended Indian Hills Community College and
received his Associates Degree. On October 6, 1990 he was united in
marriage to Angelisa Braida in Chariton, Iowa. To this union a daughter
was born, Presley. Darrell and Angelisa later divorced.
Following high school, Darrell went to work at Ideal Ready Mix in Chariton. He was working as manager until his accident in 1994 and was no longer able to work. Darrell was a sports enthusiast, and in his younger years he was a stand-out athlete in football, basketball and track. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling and loved spending time with his family.
Darrell is survived by his daughter, Presley (Kole) McCormick of Chariton; a grandson, Kane McCormick; his mother, Lola (Tony) Harbin of Oskaloosa; his father, David (Gwen) Swan Sr., of Rogers, AR; his siblings, David (Becky) Swan Jr of Russell, IA, Darrin (Gina) Swan or Fairhope, AL. and Michelle (Ron) Dickerson of Rogers, AR; two half-sisters, Guinevere (Skip) Langeberg of Spokane, WA and Jennifer Swan of Spokane, WA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 5:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel with the family present to greet guests and relatives. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event. Memorials may be made to the family.
