George F. McCormick, a former Russell resident, who died Aug. 20 in Las
Vegas at the age of 99. He was raised near Russell by Oscar and Viola
Pierce after the deaths, when he was 4, of his parents, Charles and Mary
A. (Pulley) McCormick. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

George was a very good man according to my mother, Aurora Della Betta Simmons. They had dated when they were young. George reached out to my mom after the death of his wife, and had a wonderful phone conversation where they caught up on each other's lives. What a joy it must have been to see each other again in heaven. Mary Kay Jensen
