Dixie Singleton Obituary

Dixie Ann Singleton, 73, of Russell passed away September 27, 2019 at the Corydon Specialty Care. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be sent in care of Loyed Singleton at 307 W. Smith St. Russell, Iowa 50238.

Dixie was born December 28, 1945 in Sigourney, Iowa to Warren and Lucille Hollingsworth Botorff. She grew up in southeast Iowa, graduating from Pekin High School in 1964. She then attended x-ray school in the Ottumwa Hospital. Dixie had a career as an x-ray technician, where she worked for hospitals in Illinois, Oskaloosa, IA, and then retired from Lucas County Health Center.

She met Loyed Singleton at the Eagles Club in Chariton. They had a lengthy courtship and later married in October of 1998. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and made baby blankets for many. She also liked to work in her yard and tend to her flowers. Dixie was a giving and caring person, always making the extra effort to care for others. She loved people and really enjoyed family reunions.

Survivors include her husband, Loyed; siblings, Judy Bottorff Kellum and C.W. (Holly) Bottorff; many nieces, nephews, and extended relatives; and special friend, Kim Scieszinski. Dixie had many wonderful friends at Chariton Ford, LCHC and neighbors who helped her and Loyed through the last few months.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Warren and Lucille; and brother, David Bottorff.
