Her teaching career spanned over forty years with students in LuRay, MO; New Cambria, MO; Bucklin, MO; Callao, MO and in her final years Macon, MO. Ms. Davis loved teaching and had a great relationship with her students. Mary Alice loved to drive the countryside looking for wildlife and at the scenery; when traveling back and forth to Iowa for family events she took backroads and was never in a hurry. The Callao Christian Church was a big part of her life and she donated her time to play the piano and organ for Sunday services, weddings and funerals. Mary Alice was also very active with her friends and the Retired Teachers Group.

Mary Alice passed away suddenly at her home at the age of 65 years. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Davis and her brother, Clare Burdette Davis. Surviving are her sister, Ethel (Weston) Laing of Chariton; nephew, John (Sheila) Laing and great niece, Amy Laing.
