Ralph D. Johnson Obituary
Ralph D. Johnson was born on April 7, 1932 in Lucas County to Richard M. Johnson and Bertha S. (Schumann) Johnson. Ralph passed away peacefully from this life on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the Legacy Lodge surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 85 years and ten months.
In 1950, Ralph graduated from the Chariton High School. Upon graduation, Ralph served his country in the Army stationed in Korea. After his discharge from the United States Army, he started farming.
Ralph was united in marriage to Dorothy Rawlins in 1951, to this union was born five children, Deborah, Thomas, Douglas, James, and Brandon. In 1975, Ralph and Dorothy moved to Chariton, where Ralph went to work at the Hy-Vee truck stop. After retiring from Hy-Vee, he went to work at a group home located in Chariton. Ralph was a hard working and caring father and loving husband.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Bertha Johnson; his wife, Dorothy; and his sisters, Arleen Rupp and Sophie.
He is survived by his five children, Deborah Wright of Chariton, Iowa, Thomas Johnson of Knoxville, Iowa, Douglas Johnson of Norwalk, Iowa, James Johnson of California, and Brandon Johnson of Chariton, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, Kimberly (Mark) Wright of New Virginia, Iowa, Kevin (JoAnn) Johnson of Norwalk, Iowa, Trisan (Heather) Johnson of Grimes, Iowa, Bridget (Jason) Krumbholtz of Whilley, Texas, Katelyn Johnson of Fortworth, Texas, Cody (Abby) Johnson of Fresno, California, and Megan (James) Smith of Clovis California; 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. Ralph will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
