John Faris Rash was born to Howard J. and Florence S. (Faris) Rash at home on May 18, 1928 in Zearing, Iowa. John was one of six children.
John attended and graduated high school in Union, Iowa. During that time he gathered many friends and memories playing basketball and baseball.
John met the love of his life in school and married Margaret C. Hager on August 6, 1950. This union was blessed with six children Douglas, Dwight, Daryl, Darla, Donavon and DaLene.
John spent his life on the farm we he instilled a work ethic in his children. He would only go to town twice a year, once to the cattleman’s banquet and once to the W.W.F wrestling match.
Upon retiring he enjoyed fishing, going to his grandchildren’s sporting events, which continued onto his great-grandchildren’s events. He also became a great socializer splitting his time between the Chariton Feed and Grain “The Gossip Shop” and the Eastridge Animal Clinic.
John also enjoyed his professional sporting events. He didn’t care who won or lost he just wanted a good game.
Time apart was not meant to be as one month to the day of losing his wife of 66 years they were reunited for eternity.
Preceding John in death are his parents, wife Margaret, son Donavon, grandsons Robert and Matthew, siblings Dave, Ruth and Margaret. Left to cherish his memory are his children Douglas of Chariton, Iowa, Dwight (Janet) of Kearney, NE, Daryl (Dixie) of Avoca, Iowa, Darla (Doug Adrian) of Russell, Iowa, DaLene (Mark) Kahler of Cambridge, Iowa, brother Joe Rash of Union, Iowa and sister Milicent “Ann” Woodward of Conrad, Iowa. As well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
