Charles Lloyd Storm the sixth child of Job Henry Storm and Fannie Gladys (Umbenhower) Storm was born in Tipperary, Pleasant Township of Lucas County, Iowa, on February 5, 1923 and departed on this life on December 20, 2013. Charles attended Center Country School and Chariton High School where he graduated in 1943. Charles was a faithful Christian all his life, converted at a young age at the Zion Methodist Church and later joining the Church of the Nazarene.
On November 23, 1947 Charles married Lova Dedee Thatcher at Russell, Iowa; they celebrated over 66 years together. Charles worked as a farm laborer while he and Lova lived in Russell, Palmyra, Flagler and then settling in Knoxville. Charles then went to work at Armstrong Tire Manufacturing which he retired from in 1977. He enjoyed raising calves and hardly ever missed the cattle auction. Although Charles and Lova had no children of their own, Charles was a guiding force and very influential to his many nieces and nephews whom he loved to tease and joke with.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; Alva, Caryl, Donald, Ronald, David Lavern and four sister; Thelma Fluke, Wanda Hall, Lois Dachenbach and Norma Storm. Charles leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Lova, one brother Floyd Storm, one sister JoAnn Davidson both of Chariton and many nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
Charles’ service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2013, at the Church of the Nazarene of Knoxville, with Pastor Greg E. McClain officiating. Charles’ family will be present one hour prior to service time.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Church of the Nazarene of Knoxville. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com. The Winfield Funeral Home is assisting Charles’ family with services.
