Charles Otto Baughman Jr., 91, was born July 16, 1921 to Charles and Anna (Judd) Baughman in Russell, Iowa. He passed away on September 11, 2012 in Altoona, Iowa.
Charles grew up in Russell and worked on the family farm as well as Threlkeld's Service Station prior to World War II. He proudly serviced in the United States Army from 1943 until his discharge in 1946.
After the war Charles worked and then owned service stations in the Des Moines area mainly on the east side. After this Charles operated Iowa Liquidators. Everyone will always remember his ready smile, quick wit and his love of life.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, June (Adams) Baughman, sister-in-law Virginia Pasco, nieces Bernadette (Carl) Carnes, DeNise (Mark) Baker and Scottirae (Wayne) Owens. Also surviving are nephews Ron (Christine) Baughman, Bruce Swartfager, John (Marcia) Baughman and Joe (Melissa) Baughman. In addition to this Charles is survived by many great nieces and nephews who he dearly loved and they thought of him as a second father.
Preceding Charles in death were his parents, one sister Dorothy (Lindell) Johnson, one brother Robert (MaDonna) Baughman and his niece Bobbie Jo Swartfager.
