June Ann Moore Obituary

 

 


 

Funeral Services will be held for June Ann Moore on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa. Family will be present to greet family and friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, because of June’s love for her town of Russell, memorials may be made to the Russell Historical Society or the Russell Library.

June Ann Moore was born on January 13, 1937 to William Henry and Catherine Elizabeth Sanders in Chariton, Iowa. She had one brother, Zeke Sanders. She attended Chariton High School.

June married James F. Moore Sr. on May 29, 1954 and to this union, they were blessed with four children: James F. Moore Jr., Joseph F. Moore, Jerry W. Moore, and Julie A. Moore. She worked several jobs throughout her lifetime, but her favorite job was at the O’Donnell Nursing Home where she worked as a nurse’s aid.

June met her best friend for life, Jake Roach in 1974 and loved him and his whole family as her own until Jake’s death in 2008. June and Jake spent lots of time traveling with Mary Kay and Earl Kaikkonen. June was best friends with Jake’s daughter, Jane Miller and Jane’s family. Jane’s children: Shelly, Jeff and Jennifer, thought of June as their Grandma.

June enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting and many different craft projects that she did for and with her grandchildren.

June passed away February 16, 2021 at Lucas County Health Center. She is survived by her children: Jim (Lori) Moore and Joe (Cindy) Moore; eleven grandchildren: Stephanie (Rod) Jantz, Michael Moore, Christopher (Jackie) Schaeffer, Brian (Jenn Cretin) Moore, Mark Moore, Angie (Jake) Shriver, Justin (Amber) Fitzgerald, Jeff (Jamie) Moore, Trisha Moore, Matt (Ashley) Moore, and Erin (Pete) Burmeister; 25 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Marsha Sanders.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Catherine Sanders; son, Jerry Moore; daughter, Julie Moore; companion, Jake Roach; best friend, Jane Miller; brother, Zeke Sanders; and great granddaughter, Maeley James Moore.

Jeanne Marie Hermann, daughter of Roy and Helen Pallas was born September 4, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa.  She attended grade school in Des Moines and Ames and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines in 1940.

She attended Capitol City Commercial College and worked for two years for Mutual Benefit of Omaha before attending San Francisco State College. She then graduated form Wright McMahon Secretarial School in Beverly Hills, California before returning to Des Moines.

In 1947, Jeanne met and married Loren C. Hermann of Muscatine who would later earn his D.O, degree.

To this marriage four children were born, Steve, Tim, Bruce and Laurie.  Two children were born after settling in Russell, Iowa.  She worked along side her husband until his retirement.  She enjoyed traveling and following her children and grandchildren’s enterprises and accomplishments.  She enjoyed belonging to Russell Social Sorority.

Jeanne was baptized at the First Federated Church in Des Moines, belonged to Russell Presbyterian Church until it disbanded and then joined Russell Faith United Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband of 64 years, sister Helen Timm of Muscatine, her sons, Bruce and Steven, sister-in-law Ruth Egly and daughter-in-law Kathy.

She spent  the years following her husband’s death at Homestead Assisted living in Chariton.

Left to cherish her memory are her Children Tim {Jeanette) Hermann of York, SC., Laurie (Frank Helms) Elmore, of Chariton, IA, Five grandchildren, Medea (Scott) Saunders, Heather (John) Watson, Lindsay (Chad) Fender, Jeremy (Nikki) Hermann and Jason Hermann, two nieces Cynthia Malglin, Sue Bechter, nine great-grandchildren, Charlie and Gretchen Hammill, Hailey and Elijah Fender, Aenea Saunders, and Greyson, Mykah, Alayna and Dawsyn Hermann.
