Wilma Horner Reynolds was born on April 10, 1918 to Effie (Auxier) and Leonard Horner. She was raised by her loving father near the Lucas/Monroe county line. Wilma had to take over mothering duties to her two younger brothers at the age of 8. She always said her dad had a way of making work fun.
She graduated from eighth grade, but loved school so much she worked on her high school studies when she was in her seventies.
Wilma married Lyle Reynolds on August 7, 1935. To this union were born two daughters who died at birth; a son, Doyle; and two daughters, Donna and Dixie.
Wilma worked hard on the farm and cooking for the hired hands, but you never heard her complain. She would tell her children - just take one day at a time and count your blessings. She lived on the family farm north of Russell for 56 years.
At the age of 87 she moved to an apartment at Southgate in Chariton, which she thoroughly enjoyed for four years, and spent the past four years at Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center.
She went to be with her heavenly Father on November 7, 2013 after having wonderful care being given to her at the Legacy Lodge in Chariton.
Her kind and gentle manner will be missed by all who knew her.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Lyle, her parents, 2 brothers - Raymond and Richard, 3 sisters-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law, 3 nephews and one niece.
Those left to celebrate her life are her 3 children and spouses Doyle and Marilyn (Evans) Reynolds of Russell, Donna and Jim Narber of Grand Island, NE, and Dixie and Steve Dursky of San Antonio, TX. Grandchildren and their spouses are: Danny & Toni Reynolds, Kelly & Mike Pose, Conn & Karen Narber, Shannon & Vicki Narber, Heidi & Kent Richter, Tiffany & Todd Johnson, Gretchen & Mark Fryar, Amanda & Scott Evershed, Samantha & Eric Nahass, 23 great grandchildren, 4 nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
