Allan Lynn McCullough, the second of eight children, was born on May 17, 1952 to Ivan and Eleaine (Johnson) McCullough in Leon, Iowa. At a young age his family moved to Russell, where he attended school from kindergarten through his graduation in 1970. Allan was a good athlete, participating in all school sports offered; he received an athletic scholarship to Indian Hills in Centerville. He also enjoyed and developed a passion for golf. Following completion of his Associate of Arts degree from Indian Hills, he attended college at Kirksville, Missouri.
Allan married Denise Blue in 1975. During their 15 year marriage they had a son, Morgan Gail and a daughter, Megan Lynn. Allan was employed by Iowa Realty in Des Moines. He returned to the Russell area, working for Dale Werts and then the Hy-Vee wholesale. He began working with Jim Johnson as a carpet layer, continuing the business following Jim's death.
With Lois at his side, Allan tackled his illness head on, determined to continue his daily routine and with the assistance of his family (Lois, Morgan and Megan) he accomplished his goal. Due to complications from his illness, Allan dies at Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 with Lois, Morgan and Megan at his side. He was 59 years, 3 months and 26 days old.
He is survived by companion and soul mate Lois Jeffries; his children Morgan McCullough of Des Moines, IA and Megan (Mike) Arnold of Russell, IA; special extended family, Jay Jeffries; parents Eleaine McCullough of Oskaloosa, IA and Ivan McCullough of Russell, IA; siblings, Arnan McCullough of Youngstown, FL, Calvin (Leah) McCullough of Hayden, ID, Jennine (Steve) Rex of Emaclaw, WA, Kevin (Cindi) McCullough of Russell, IA, Galen (Pam) McCullough of Chariton, IA, Maureen White of Chariton, IA and Coleen McCullough of Oskaloosa, IA; grandchildren, Graden, Cutler, Kyzer, and Elsie Arnold and many nieces, nephews and friends.
