Alice Dorothy Mason Obituary

Alice Dorothy Mason was the 9th of 10 children born to Carl A. and Nellie Rohrer Mason on December 6, 1923 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.  The family moved to Lucas County in 1928 where she attended school.
She was united in marriage to James Ronald Mason on September 28, 1940 at the Baptist parsonage in Russell, Iowa by Rev. Archie Beals.
They started farming in 1944 and purchased the family farm in 1950.  They moved into Chariton in 1992.
Dorothy was a homemaker and after the children were grown she worked at Kemble Floral, Pipers Candy Store and Winchell's Grocery in Williamson.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chariton, United Methodist Women and Circle Leader.  She served many positions in the church, was a 4-H Leader, Charter Member of the Lucas County Genealogy Society, Sunsine Workers Club and Friendship Quilting Circle.
Services were held on Wednesday September 19, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Chariton, Iowa with Pastor Allen Wiese officiating.  Interment was held in the Chariton Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Lucas Coumty Genealogy Society.
