George T. Holder III, 70, of Chariton passed away peacefully Monday, August 26, 2013.
He was born September 7, 1942 in Albia, IA to George (Tommy) Holder and Edna (Manley) Holder.
He attended school in Chariton and graduated from Chariton High School in 1960.  Upon graduation he married his Junior High sweetheart, Karen McKee and was blessed with three children,  Angela, Jack & Lisa.
He joined the Chariton Fire Department in 1962 and served as chief from 1967 - 1971.
He was elected as the youngest President of the Iowa Firemen's Association 1974 - 1975, organized and was charter President of the South Central Iowa Firemen's Association. He was the recipient of the 1975 Governor's Award for Fire Service.  He was very active in his community by serving 15 years on the Chariton School Board; 13 years on the Area Education Association; and 27 years on the Chariton Water Board. He also served on the Lucas County Compensation board for 8 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge where he was honored to perform Masonic rites.
He was a partner in the Western Auto Store for 9 years; owner operator of the Dairy Queen for 13 years; also employed by the US Postal Service as a postal carrier and served as Postmaster in Milo, IA and Russell, IA, retiring in 2010.
George's many interests included taking his father and friends to Canada fishing, attending, participating and setting records in several events at the Iowa Firemen's Conventions and helping out at the annual Chariton Firemen's Banquet; duck hunting, golf, attending grandchildren's activities and cross wording.
He most treasured celebrating his 50th Anniversary on an Alaskan cruise.
George was preceded in death by his wife Karen, parents, and sisters JoAnn Holder and Carol McFarland. He is survived by his three children, Angela (Dirk) Rosenberger of Indianola, IA; Jack Holder of Sully, IA; and Lisa (Gus) Carmona of Rye Brook, NY. Grandchildren: Morgan & Clay Rosenberger; Jesse & Laci Holder; and Sarah & Frank Carmona. His mother in-law, Joy McKee of Chariton, IA; sister in-law, Linda (Bob) Allen of Allerton, IA; brother, Joe Holder and several nieces and nephews.
A void will be left in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Harriet Lea (Relph) McLarnand Obituary

Harriett Lea Relph McLarnand was born on October 22, 1938 to Walter and Edna Relph.  She was born in the same house as her father.  She passed away on August 12, 2013.
She graduated from Russell High School in 1956.
Harriett worked at an insurance company in Des Moines.
She married Howard Lee Hull on April 20, 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Russell.  To this union they had two daughters, Barbara Jolene and Janice Kay.  In December 1965, her husband, Howard, was killed in a truck accident.  Harriett married Albert E. McLarnand, Jr. on February 14, 1968 at the Baptist Church in Chariton.  To this union they had a son, Patrick Albert.  They made their home on a farm south of Milo, Iowa, where she helped Albert farm for 45 years and during this time she worked for Merediths Publishing in Des Moines for 15 years.
Harriett enjoyed cooking, gardening and watching birds that would feed at her multiple bird feeders.  She loved to travel with Albert to the surrounding states.
Harriett was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard L. Hull; parents, Walter & Edna Relph; daughter, Barbara J. Hull Topp; grandson, James Andrew Gaytan; brother, Roger D. Relph; and sister, Rose Marie Dachenbach.
She is survived by her husband, Albert E. McLarnand, Jr. of Milo; daughter, Janice K. (Hull) Gaytan (Raul) of Omaha; son, Patrick A. McLarnand (Denise) of Milo; grandchildren, Cristal M. (Gaytan) Hernandez (Jesus); Joshua R. Gaytan (Rosie); Cassandra L. Gaytan, Zach Baker McLarnand, Barbara Jo McLarnand, Kelton Topp and Julian Topp; great-grandchildren, Anissa Leon (Hernandez), Daniela Hernandez, and Alexander James Gaytan; brother, Donald Gordon Relph (Marylou); sister-in-laws, Frances (Hull) Sullivan (Robert) and Pauline (Hull) Murray (James) and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no funeral service.
